40 Times “Spice World” Slayed Your Entire Existence

This month marks the eighteenth anniversary of one of the greatest cult classics of all time–Spice World. Released officially in the UK on 26 December 1997 and then 25 January 1998 in the US, Spice World followed the story of hit pop girl group the Spice Girls as they travel to their performance in Albert Hall. As the Girls travel to their destination, a film crew trying to capture their attention, a movie studio looking to produce a movie about them (oh, the irony!), pregnancies, and tabloids stand Okay, so the plot is hard to explain but I swear this is not a drama. We can only wait for The Unauthorized Spice Girls Story to premiere on Lifetime in a few years for that to happen.

Although the film was a critical flop, it has become a cult classic and it is easy to see why with how much slayage the Girls are serving. Here are the 40 times the Spice Girls slayed your life in Spice World :

1.) When they opened the film with a Top of the Pops performance of “Too Much”:

2nd Feature Writing

4. The author wants is aiming for an audience that follows Nicki Minaj and also the Pop Music Industry.

5. The purpose of this article is for annoying wanting to know about Nicki Minaj and also whats been going on in the Pop Music Industry.

6. Some details that help understand the purpose is at the beginning when the author writes “Nicki Minaj is the world’s biggest female hip-hop star, a top pop star and the first woman to achieve success in both genres.” Another is when the author writes “Pop music is dominated almost exclusively by the female star — Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift,MILEY CYRUS, Lady Gaga and, as always, Madonna.”

her own image — and maintained it with uncompromising control.” Which also leaves you wondering how?

8. Some details and information that help make the article more interesting is when many pop stars give their own opinions about their lifestyles and just what goes on in the big moments such as award shows, concerts, and morning and late night shows.

9. I thought the first strong point in the article was the attention getter by the author because of how it was said and how persuading it is. Another strong point is how even thoughthe title focuses on Nicki Minaj it is still able to broaden horizons and use opinions from other pop stars. One last strong point is that the author is able to talk about many topics and doesn’t stick to just one.

10. The author concludes the article by showing how things got a little personal towards the end of their interview. International Political Cartoons

1357042_525_350_w

The artist of this political cartoon is Paresh, the country of origin is America. This political cartoon is making fun of how Hillary Clinton will do anything to win the election even if that means bribing people. Some techniques used are exaggeration if you look at the bus Hillary’s an endless amount of money coming out where her competitor doesn’t have any money coming out of their bus. The main point of this cartoon is to show how if you have a lot of money that’s almost a guarantee that you will win.

1347698_525_350_w

The artists of this political cartoon is Lianhe Zaobao it was made in Singapore. The message portrayed here is they want to give women some rights but not enough to do something with them. Exaggeration is being used as well because if you look at the women in the car she looks shocked and scared. The key point being used here is that even though the government says they gave them rights doesn’t necessarily say what kind or how much.

International Cartoon 2

1355712_525_350_w

The artist is McDonald and the origin it came from is Honduras. This political cartoon is a picture of El Chapo who been captured from escaping a high security prison in Mexico. And all over the news there has been rumors saying how actress, Kate De Castillo and El Chapo  have been communicating through social media and people say that they like each other. The artist has added an exaggeration to the cartoon by making the handcuffs out of a heart that has Kate’s name.

International Political Cartoon Analysis

In 2015 every fan of soccer knew that FIFA was corrupt, and were just waiting for it to come out. When the arrests of FIFA officials were made it made news everywhere. These people had been holding the progression of the sport back so they could get their hands on extra money.

Blatter suspended

This political cartoon comes from Jordan, the artist is HAJJAJ. A red card in the sport of soccer means that you are suspended from the game. The man in the drawing is Sepp Blatter, the president of FIFA, or currently ex-president, but at the time of the drawing he had just announced his resignation. The resignation came after the FIFA presidential elections, in which Blatter won. His presidency in FIFA could almost be compared to a dictatorship because it was a given he was going to win no matter who he ran against.

After his resignation there were hopes that he would be arrested because of the FIFA corruption scandals that were going on. His colleagues were being arrested and the world was just waiting to see Blatter’s name on the list of those arrested.

Blatter on FIFA

This cartoon by PISMETROVIC comes from Austria. The cartoon shows blatter sitting on a ball representing Fifa. The ball seems to be dead, kind of like Blatter killed FIFA. Which is exactly what has been happening. Blatter has been killing the sport for a while now. In the 2013 Ballon d’or voting, the voting had closed. But it was obvious that the voting had been extended so that Cristiano Ronaldo could win it over Lionel Messi. This action by FIFA had tainted the most prestigious personal award in the beautiful sport. There were a lot of suspicions over the extension. A lot of outrage too, because the voting had been closed, the voting was over, and they extended it to favour a player. The player did have a great year, but one performance late in the year should not have had the voting extended. Blatter is a poison to FIFA, and fans of the sport are happy to see him gone.

The future of the sport is bright without Blatter in charge.

Feature Writing

  1. The title of this article is called A Very Revealing Conversation with Rihanna.
  2. The author of this article is Miranda July.
  3.  The source of this article is The New York Times.
  4. The author would want the audience to be any people following Rihanna and her fan base.
  5. The purpose of this article was to inform her fans and many teens or adults who find Rihanna interesting about her and some crucial or demeaning details towards her.
  6. Some details that can support the purpose are when it is stated that Rihanna said

‘‘Oh, random things. Like I will be sitting around Googling childbirth.’’ also when she explains that ‘‘Guys need attention,’’ she explained. ‘‘They need that nourishment, that little stroke of the ego that gets them by every now and then. I’ll give it to my family, I’ll give it to my work — but I will not give it to a man right now.’’

  7. The article tries to hook your interest by putting a very discrete title and a short hook about what are the topics that are being talked about.

  8. Some text features that the author uses is small rebuttals and captions that lead to other questions.
  9. I thought that the first feature that was very important and strong was the title because that can drag a reader in automatically no matter if you like Rihanna or not. Another strong feature was the explanation before the interview when the author talks about how she got prepared to meet Rihanna. One more strong feature was the author’s ability to keep the conversation going. To not give to much information to lead to the next question.
  10. The author brings the article to a conclusion by having a not written conversation with Rihanna and then ends by briefly explaining how the author felt while talking to Rihanna.

International Political Cartoon

Artist: Kichka     ;  Country: Israel

This cartoon seems to be addressing the prejudice police brutality that is going around in the world and how nothing changed since slavery days. Especially against the black man. There have been many unnecessary police killings for example, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, and many more.

Symbolism- The police uniform, and whip. Shows the comparison of slavery back in the day and todays cops

Analogy- comparing the slaves back in the day getting whipped and the police today attacking black men again

Exaggeration- The whip; the police officer dressed as a slave owner under his uniform

Labeling- The name POLICE on his arm

Irony- that the white man is still attacking the black people and men especially

Political Cartoon Analysis

immigration-political-cartoon

  1. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is an American federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Homeland Security, responsible for identifying, investigating, and dismantling vulnerabilities regarding the nation’s border, economic, transportation, and infrastructure security.
  2. Yes, there is two sheriffs and an American police officer who appears to be lazy and sleeping. This cartoon takes place on the border of Mexico.
  3. Symbolism – the unfairness of immigration & how lazy us Americans can be ; Analogy – the cartoon is comparing the nature of immigrants & Americans ; Exaggeration – The police officer sleeping with a pillow outside laying on the actual sign, with his hat, gun, and handcuffs not on him ; Labeling – The U.S./Mexico Border sign, the Federal Immigration Enforcement words on the police officer, and the American Flag on the cops sleeve ; Irony – This country is a diverse country, but America is predominantly white and it’s predominantly whites who are protesting illegal immigration, and it is ironic that that some of the illegal immigrants are crossing into the land that use to be theirs. Also,  given our history ‘Americans’ stole this land from the Native Americans, & stole large parts of the south from Mexico.
  4. The cartoonists point of view is that America is very lazy compared to other countries and they do not want other people from other countries to cross the border. I know this because of the exaggeration of the cop in the cartoon with a pillow sleeping. Also, by the sarcastic dialogue in the cartoon.
  5. The cartoon is persuasive because its somewhat funny and the humor draws the attention of the viewer. It really makes people analyze it more and try to figure it out.
  6. The cartoon could have used a rhetorical question and/or repetition of words. Other than that the cartoon definitely was persuasive and gave all the points needed.
